At Sambourne CE VC Primary School, our School is a place where we value every child as an individual and develop them both academically, socially and spiritually within a safe, happy and supportive environment.

We are proud of the rich and varied curriculum that we offer, which enables children to not only excel in reading, writing, science and math, but to also develop their knowledge, skills and understanding in a variety of other subjects such as RE, Art, Music, PE, ML, Computing, History and Geography.

Our curriculum is underpinned by our Christian values of: courage – truthfulness – creativity – perseverance and friendship.

We offer a curriculum which is broad and balanced and which builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills of all children, whatever their starting points, as they progress through each Key Stage. The curriculum incorporates the statutory requirements of the new National Curriculum 2014 and other experiences and opportunities which best meet the learning and developmental needs of the children in our school.  The aim of our curriculum is to enable children to have the requisite skills to be successful, independent and motivated learners in readiness for their next stage of education. Our creative curriculum aims to provide opportunities to create emotionally literate and resilient children who value all people whatever their race, religion, culture or ability.

Where possible, teachers organise each term’s learning under a theme, with a particular subject ‘leading’ this.

Please visit our class pages to see our long and medium term overview of the curriculum.

They work hard to ensure the children make connections between and within subjects. This enables children to broaden their skills and knowledge simultaneously. The curriculum is planned thoroughly, starting with the children’s current knowledge and skills, so that real progress is made. Each term there are a variety of visits and visitors planned to enrich the learning and create lasting memories via real experiences.

Cherishing Childhood:

The primary and early years are a time where children progress and grow at a rapid rate and where children are bursting with awe and wonder, fun and joy. All the staff at Sambourne CE VC Primary School recognise the special responsibility they hold as custodians of these years and they do not lose sight of this treasured opportunity.
