Sports Premium Grant

 Sambourne is using the Sports Premium Grant in 2015-2016 in the following ways:

  • Employing a HLTA (with sport qualifications) to deliver a high quality PE curriculum
  • Providing high quality staff development in delivering specific aspects of the PE curriculum
  • Funding release of staff to support pupils’ engagement in inter-schools tournaments, including cross country, dance, swimming, athletics, football, gymnastics and netball
  • Funding high quality and engaging intra school sport events, including Wimbledon Fortnight and Sports Day
  • Paying for Y5 swimming lessons

 In 2014-2015 we used our Sports Premium Grant in the following ways:

  • Purchasing resources to ensure our children are adequately equipped in their PE lessons
  • Employing a HLTA (with sport qualifications) to deliver a high quality PE curriculum
  • Providing high quality staff development in delivering specific aspects of the PE curriculum
  • Paying for Y5 swimming lessons 

 Impact of the use of the Sports Premium Grant in 2014-2015:

  • Our school achieved the bronze Schools Games Mark
  • All children received weekly one hour PE lessons from our HLTA, increasing their skills and well-being through regular physical activity
  • The school teams participated in inter-schools tournaments for football, netball, swimming and athletics
  • A group of 24 children participated in our Wimbledon Tennis Tournament
  • More of our children participated in extra-curricular sports clubs including football, netball, rounders and KS1 ball skills
  • Y5 swimming lessons were fully subsidised
  • Our Sports Ambassadors ran YR wake and shake sessions in the hall daily, leading to improved gross motor skills
  • Children were using the correct size of ball in their games lessons, leading to improved development of throwing, catching and kicking skills
