Science is taught through a cross curricular topic approach.

The children are involved in practical investigations which gives the children an opportunity to improve their scientific skills and to underpin their scientific knowledge. The scientific skills they build on are: to question, predict, observe, measure, hypothesise and evaluate results.

Topics are planned to ensure a progression of National Curriculum skills and knowledge. The topics covered across their time at Sambourne are: humans, animals, plants, rocks, sound, light, everyday materials, seasonal changes, habitats, forces and magnets, states of matter, electricity, Earth and space, evolution and inheritance.
