Learn to Love - Love to Learn

Headteacher's welcome

Welcome and thank you for visiting the Sambourne Church of England Primary School website. I hope that it provides you with a flavour of our school and an insight into our core values and educational philosophy. We are very proud of our school and the progress that our pupils make, academically, emotionally, and socially.

Sambourne Church of England Primary School has been described as ‘a village school in the heart of Warminster town’. It is a happy school with a real sense of family, where pupils and staff enjoy working together.  We have a strong ethos based on values of respect, tolerance and courtesy.  We set high standards of behaviour and actively promote self-discipline, respect, resilience and responsibility.  Through this, our pupils gain the confidence to be part of society and develop the skills and attitudes essential for their future.

We are a very busy, friendly learning community with lots going on. We celebrate the variety of pupils interests, talents and abilities and through classwork, projects and teamwork we support them in developing their expertise. We recognise that each pupil is brilliantly different and that they learn in a multitude of ways. Our aim is to meet individual’s needs, develop self-confidence, raise their expectations, and provide the support and challenge that is necessary for future success.

We provide our pupils with challenging and stimulating learning opportunities, enabling each of them to grow in confidence while developing the skills for continued and sustained learning. We want them to succeed and not be daunted by the challenges they will face in today’s rapidly changing world. We recognise that the gift of learning is a shared, life-long process and that the partnerships between pupils, teachers and the wider Warminster community are vital in ensuring that all our pupils aspire to achieve the best possible learning outcomes they can. The children are at the very heart of everything we do, and we really do ‘Learn to Love – Love to Learn’.

Our Christian foundation is very important in the life of our school and shapes all that we do on a daily basis. This can be seen through the many interactions that take place and the attitude and behaviour of pupils. It permeates our school vision, our core values and the school ethos. It is strengthened with strong links with Christ Church, the local community, and the Salisbury Diocese.

It is a huge privilege and honour to serve as Headteacher. To welcome children into our school and watch them learn, grow, develop and mature into young people on their journey towards becoming reflective, open-minded global citizens and valued members of our local and wider community. It really is the best job in the world.

I hope that you enjoy your visit to our website and that you find the information you are looking for. However, please feel free to contact us with any queries or feedback that you may have.

Best wishes,

Ian Albrow
