Sports Day - postponed19 June 2025 (by Ian Albrow (ian.albrow)) |
UKHSA - Amber Health Warning
In the last hour the UK heatwave warning has been lifted to Amber and is force for the remainder of the weekend, this indicates that there is a risk to life, particularly for vulnerable groups and young children.
The UK Health Security agency has issued an amber heat health alert for all of England, and says a rise in deaths among vulnerable groups is 'likely'. The UKHSA said the prolonged period of hot weather could lead to "a rise in deaths, particularly among those aged 65 and over or with health conditions", and "there may also be impacts on younger age groups."
With this in mind, and in line with DfE guidance on physical activities during a heatwave, we have made the decision to postpone tomorrows sports day to our reserve date of Friday 11th July. We realize that for some this will be an inconvenience and disappointment but the safety of the children and spectators has to remain our first priority.
